*Dicom file [#g5aa6208]
dicom is widely used file format in medical world but it has complicated structure and some limitation. We prefer not to use the format mainly. So the first thing to do is doing conversion to sdt/spr file format(float type). There is no reason to stick with integer data format. We had better convert the data into real(float/double) format as soon as possible and never change it back to integer without special reasons.

**12-bit or 16-bit [#k1dba901]
The Siemens default setting for the pixel data is 12-bit integer format. The data is from 0 to 4095. We intensionally switch to 16-bit mode. Then the data range becomes 0 ~ 65535.~
You can check your dicom data with dgs command.

 ...
Here the dicombit indicates the data bit setting(12 or 16)
and bitmax indicates the maximum data value in the dicom file. The percentage indicates the used dynamic range for the data. 3053/4095=~0.74 If the percentage is too much small, you should change the calculation factor for your scan card at Siemens host computer.
